The Fool Takes off
It starts so bright
It floats so light
A feather falling in the sun
Until they hit the light switch
The room grows dark & cold
Walls we didn’t know about
Pain so bad I’d shout
If I didn’t fear
That would make it worse
So I found a corner
I fortified against the unknown
Day after Day cowering from
What might come for me
Until the walls crumble
And light breaks through
The writing on the wall says
These were my Mother’s old walls
My Father’s old forts
And I sat so long in the Dark
Behind my walls with my wife & children
So as fools we opened our eyes
And in the end no one cared
Life is the Poem
For a brief moment
The page gets written on
The story is called a life
And when it’s over the page turns
If you were a mess, your ink will bleed through
If you were tidy the next writer
Will have a beautiful world to tell their story on
Go or Stay?
Go
There’s no time
Chase and Do and Be
Stay
There’s no time
Play and Say and Be
One from without
The other from within
What will you hear
Through all that you’ve been?
Plenty of Space
Noise wails for attention
”Feed me your mind” it begs
While it’s held in love by silence
Life cries out to the stars
”Give me a purpose” it pleads
While it’s held in love by death
Is a room a chair and a bed and a TV
Or is it a space?
is a person their thoughts and dreams and feelings
Or are they a space?
And you can fill yours
And I will fill mine
But just look to the stars
And let the black ocean remind
That you were death before life
Silence before noise
So there’s nothing to fight
Because you have plenty of space
To soak in the light
